What is Penguin update?

Google rolled out new search engine algorithm update in April 2012 to penalize sites using "Black Hat" SEO techniques.These "Black Hat" SEO techniques included buying links, building thin sites simply for the purpose of linking back to a main site, trading links, comment spam links, and similar tactics.

What is Hummingbird update?

To make search more relevant to user Google keeps on rolling out new updates on its search engine. Google's Hummingbird is the new search platform which was launced in September 2013, is designed to better focus on the meaning behind the words.

Hummingbird is paying more attention to each word in a query, ensuring that the whole query — the whole sentence or conversation or meaning — is taken into account, rather than particular words. The goal is that pages matching the meaning do better, rather than pages matching just a few words. For example - If you search "nearest grocery search at my location" it not only searches for "grocery", "store" keywords but take this as conversational and finds nearest grocery store at your current location.

What do you mean by Cloaking?

Cloaking is a black hat SEO technique in which the content presented to the Search Engine Spider is different from that is presented to user's browsers. This is done by delivering content based on the IP addresses or the User-Agent HTTP header of the user requesting the page. When a user is identified as a search engine spider, a server-side script delivers a different version of the web page, one that contains content not present on the visible page, or that is present but not searchable.

Cross Linking refers to link building process which is used for linking two sites. For example:- Assume two different sites A and B and any user reading content on site A and if there is some thing that can be used by user for further reference on site B, you can provide link of site B on site A so  that user can navigate to site B and vice versa.

How will you resolve canonicalization issue?

One of the most easiest way to resolve canonicalization issue is to add <link rel=”canonical” href=”” /> tag to your webpage where value of href is the WWW version of your webpage.

Another method is to use 301 redirect for the WWW vesion to non-WWW version of your webpage. This can be done by adding redirect condition in your .htaccess file file(Linux) and web.config file(IIS Server)

Organic search results are the web page listing provided by search engine that are most relevant & close match to the search query of user. This type of search result are naturaal and does not require payment to search engine/Google as it soley depends upon the SEO of your website.
