Question 1:

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO is a process / technique which enable you to optimize your contents in such a way so that your content may appear in the search result of search engine.

SEO is a practice to get more traffic on your website from search engine results.

Why the Title Tag should be used in website?

Title tag plays very important role in SEO as it tells about the content/information available on the page as well as it is displayed in the search engine result section where it is displayed to user as shown:

Question 3:

What are the limitations of title and description tags?

Actually there is no hard and fast rule for the limitation of title and description tags but it is recommended to have 55-60 characters including space in the title tag and 150-160 characters including space in meta-description tag as it is acceptable limit for all major Search Engines.

Question 4:

What is 301 and 302 redirect?

Both 301 and 302 are HTTP status codes that are returned to your browser as a response HTTP status.

So, what 301 and 302 means to web browser?

A 301 status code also known as 301 redirect is a permanent redirect which is used to specify that the requested resource is moved to new location.

For example: If you try to access https://modernpathshala.com/Article/2053/how-to-configure-robots-txt-file12345 then web server returns with HTTP response with status code 301 and redirect url https://modernpathshala.com/Article/2053/how-to-configure-robots-txt-file means that the requested resource has been moved to https://modernpathshala.com/Article/2053/how-to-configure-robots-txt-file location permanently. Henceforth, browser/client requests for the url returned with response with status 301 as shown in below diagram:

Similarly, A 302 status code is a temporary redirect to a requested resource.

Both 301 and 302 redirect are used to redirect requested resource to another resource but both of them has different impact on SEO.

In 301 redirect all the attributes of the requested page will be passed to redirected page which are:

  1. Page Rank
  2. Moz Rank
  3. Page Authority
  4. Traffic Value

Hence it is known as permanent redirect.

Whereas in 302 redirect, the attributes of the requested page are not passed to the redirected page.

Question 5:

What methods would you apply to decrease the loading time of a website?

This is very important aspect of website/blog. Following points should be followed to decrease the loading time of a website.

  1. Optimizing Images
  2. Static Content caching on browser
  3. Compression - Minification of CSS and JS files
  4. Put external script reference of bottom.
  5. Minimize HTTP Request by bundling JS & CSS.
  6. Add minimal required plugin to your blog/website.
  7. Reduce Redirects.

What are the Social Media channels you have used for marketing and advertisement?

I have used blogs like blogger, word press, tumblr and social bookmarking sites like Digg, Jumptags, Delicious and social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Video Sharing sites like YouTube and social media app like Whatsapp for marketing and advertisement.

Question 7:

What will you prefer to use Flash or HTML5? Which one is better and Why?

I will prefer to used HTML5 as compared to Flash as HTML5 content/videos are less resource intensive and they load faster as compared to flash content. Due to security vulnerability issues with Flash, it is recommended to use HTML5.

Question 8:

Which is the most important area to include your keywords?

Important areas to include your keyword are:

  1. Page Title
  2. URL - Permalink
  3. Article
  4. H1 or H2
  5. Description

What is webmaster tool and why it is used?

Google Search Console/Google Webmaster is a free service offered by Google that helps you monitor and maintain your site's presence in Google Search results. It is important tool as it helps to manage your website in following ways:

  1. You can check whether any of your website URL is not accessible at any point of time.
  2. You can submit new URL's and sitemap at search console.
  3. You can monitor and resolve malware or spam issue.
  4. You can manage and monitor your robots.txt file.
  5. Visually monitor content that deliver engaging search result etc.

Question 10:

What is the search engine spider and define its role?

Search engine Robot/Crawler/Spider is an automated script/program which is used by search engines to deliver up-to-date Web search results to the users. The seaarch engine robot visits each web page and finds the available hyperlinks and associated meta information to the list of URL's to be crawled. Further URL's from the list are revisited based on the crawl policy.
