At 23, some remain mystery while some create history - Story of Neerja Bhanot

The moment you turn 23, you start witnessing a change within yourself. The transformation journey leading you to become a mature person rather than a careless youngster begins at this point. But, the same is not the case with every individual as even after seeing visibly changes around them some tend to close their eyes. They do not have any fixed goals and ambitions to achieve. They remain a mystery for their whole life and are unable to recognize their inner talents and strengths.  It is necessary for such individuals to know more about life of some of the legendary individuals.

Neerja Bhanot

Neerja Bhanot, you must be aware this name as its creating lot of buzzes these days on social media. The story of this 23-year old girl who created a history is much heart-throbbing and has the power to compel you to question your conscience. The fighter girl saved 359 precious lives during an aircraft hijacking incident which took place on September 5, 1985 at Karachi. She was the senior flight attendant on Pan Am Flight 73 which took off from Mumbai and was scheduled to land at USA.

Neerja Bhanot

An Indian by nationality, Neerja saved lives of 39 Americans who were on-board. Using her intelligence and with her brave attitude “the heroine of the hijack”, prevented the plane from taking off from the ground as she evacuated pilots from the cockpit. Being the senior most members on the flight, she took the charge and fought till her last breathe.

It was her time to bid final goodbye while escaping three children from the plane. She was shot dead by the hijackers. Though, the youngest recipient of Ashoka-chakra is no more today but her brave deeds will be remembered for many coming years.
